COHRED has proud to be a member of an working group which developed a new IAMP document: “A Call for Action to Strengthen Health Research Capacity in Low and Middle Income Countries”.  This document was unanimously approved by the expert working group chaired by IAMP Co-chair Jo Ivey Boufford, ex Treasurer of the COHRED Board. I was pleased to be a member of this group, alongside representation from TDR, the World Health Summit, and many other prestigious organisations.  This call for action makes a distinct contribution to both historical and active current discussions at the World Health Organization on this important topic. It makes recommendations specific to the role of academies in the development and sustainability of robust research systems in their own countries and regions.  We encourage you to read this valuable statement, and to share it amongst your networks.
