This page explains how the work of COHRED completes an important missing link in today’s Global Health landscape. And how you can provide financial support – through COHRED – that improves the quality and relevance of research for the populations of low income countries.

COHRED supports countries to put in place systems that focus research on national needs, and ensure health equity. 

By funding COHRED, you support countries to improve their ability to define their research priorities, and better produce research that is relevant to population needs.

Effective national health research systems bring improvements in:

• Getting research into policy and practice -strengthehing the link between research evidence and policy decisions.

• Countries’ capacity to manage research and negotiate with international partners and research funders.

• Bringing communities health neeeds into national priorities and the research process.

Improve health research quality

By supporting COHRED’s work, you support programmes that:

• Improve skills of today’s and tomorrow’s managers of health research.
• Support government officials to better understand and serve national needs. 
• Create tools and learning opportunities for researchers in low income countries to learn from each other.
• Produce authoritative studies and analysis for a better understanding of problems that countries face, and how national health research can solve them.
• Build links between civil society organisations so that people in low income countries can make their voices heard in debates about national health needs.
• Convince donors and international agencies of the importance of listening to countries’ health and health research needs and responding to – and investing in – them.

Employer matching donations

Many companies will match charitable contributions made by their employees, making your contribution twice as effective.

Ask your Human Resources colleague to find if your company offers this kind of matching funding.

If so, they can give you a form – which you can send to:

We will verify that we have received your gift and return the form to your company. Your company will then send the matching amount to COHRED.

Criteria for matching gifts vary from one company to another. For more information, contact your Human Resources office.

Donate stock

Make your contribution to COHRED using stock. You can save on taxes and directly support the development of health research in low-income countries.

By giving stock, you can save in two ways. First, you avoid paying any capital gains tax on the increase in value of your stock. You also receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift.

For income tax purposes, the value of your gift may be deducted up to 30% of your adjusted gross income.
