Description: The report highlights the activities, results and recommendations made by participants during the workshop on Health Research Capacity Strengthening. Some of the key recommendations were to:
* set up a national coordination committee for health research. Its roles should be to set national research priorities and coordinate research nationwide, so doing reducing unnecessary duplication
* set up a budget quota particularly for health research within the existing funds available for the health sector
* strengthen communication among researchers and policy makers
* integrate health research into policy making and disease control
* improve the proposal review mechanism, including ethical review, and the independent selection process of publication.
