Description: The mission on health research to four countries in West Africa was organised at the initiative of IDRC, Senegal and COHRED. The joint WHO/RTI/DGIS project on health systems research for the Southern African Region has been very successful and its experience was considered to be useful for initiating similar activities in West Africa. Hence the three organisations decided to jointly organise and finance a mission to four west-African countries to explore the possibilities to develop a health research project in West Africa.
