Description: This study is the Thai component of a multi-country study on ‘Essential National Health Research: An Essential Link to Equity in Development’. Seven years after ENHR was first implemented in Thailand, this study attempts, through analysis of secondary data, to estimate the move towards equity in health. The dimensions of equity under study include equity on health and nutrition, equity in health resources, changes of lifestyle associated with health risks of different groups, efficiency and quality of services, and affordability and sustainability of health care for different groups.
The researchers suggest the development of an information system oriented towards equity, so that knowledge generated by the research system can form an important input for the Thai health system in ensuring equity between regions and population groups.
