Description: This report of the Uganda case study on community participation in the Essential National Health Research process, is one of five case studies in a multi-country study. The objectives of the study are: to find out what community participation in ENHR has in fact meant in selected countries that have implemented the strategy, and to Document examples of community involvement in ENHR in order to show modalities worked out in different countries.
The underlying principle is that health and health research cannot be the exclusive concern of professionals (policy makers and researchers). The study shows that the ultimate goals of ENHR have been pursued through different modalities of community participation. It provides suggestions for further efforts to involve people – the public, local communities, interest organisations – in ENHR.”
