Description: This Newsletter was created with the aim to widely disseminate information on the various aspects, activities and progress regarding the process of implementing ENHR in Nicaragua, and health research issues in general.

This issue presents a summary of the Operational National Plan for the development of ENHR in Nicaragua. It provides an overview of the methodology and objectives of health research priority setting for applied research at local level and the existing potential of human resources in seven SILAIS (Local Systems of Integral Health Care) representative of the different regions of the country.

In addition, it briefly touches upon an experience of applied research within communities of the Atlantic coast of the country. This short report points out the relevance of community participation in health research.
